New Training Requirements for Digital Communicators

Designing algorithm-friendly interfaces | by Maximillian Piras | UX Collective

The adoption of digital technologies has reshaped the skill set required in communication roles. For example, social media proficiency, once seen as a secondary skill, is now fundamental for reaching audiences across platforms such as LinkedIn, Facebook, and TikTok. Communicators must understand platform-specific algorithms to ensure optimal content visibility, with certifications in data analytics and social media marketing from Google or Coursera becoming highly valued (Google Digital Garage, 2023).

Design literacy has also emerged as an essential competency, with tools like Canva and Adobe Creative Suite now critical for creating visually engaging media (Canva, 2023). To adapt, communicators are increasingly pursuing training in graphic design and digital marketing to meet modern demands. Google’s Digital Garage offers free courses on digitalmarketing and Canva’s Design School provides tutorials for communicators looking to grow their design skills.
